J. Torae, a nationally known actor/comedian and native of St. Louis, has developed an impressive resume of acting roles on television and in films. Joe currently stars in the nationally touring play "Love Makes Things Happen," by award-winning playwright David E. Talbert. Talbert describes the play as a comedy about a woman who makes six figures a year and falls in love with a man who makes $6.00 an hour."
Torae also has starred in the television movie The Commitments and hosted the BET Network’s “Live from L.A.” His résumé includes co-starring roles in:

• CBS’s Hallmark Hall of Fame production, “The Flamingo Rising" with William Hurt and Elizabeth McGovern
• The HBO move, "Back in Business" with Brian Bosworth
• The Rusty Cundieff film "Sprung" with Tisha Campbell
• "Poetic Justice" with Janet Jackson and the late Tupac Shakur
• Spike Lee’s "Tales from the Hood"
• Eddie Murphy’s "Harlem Nights"

In 2000, J. Torae began writing, producing, directing and starring in his own feature films and videos including Back At Home, Black in Time, and 3 Chefs and a Preacher. Written by Joe and co-starring his brother Guy Torae, these projects also were produced by J. Torae ’s entertainment company, Big Guns Productions Inc.

Torae's close-knit family has provided him with the background of love and support needed to maintain his strong values. Based on his foundation of love from early childhood, Torae founded a not-for-profit organization called the Giving Back the Love Foundation on Christmas Day 1996.

As an encore, Torae is determined to bring Hollywood to the Midwest through the establishment of movie stages and recording studios in the region. Torae plans to offer talented people in his hometown of St. Louis an opportunity for fame.
