Georgia Me a mild-mannered,
full figured, around the way girl from the Westside
of Atlanta who received a standing ovation from
the world when she exploded on the national scene
while appearing on Russell Simmons’ Presents
HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. She was loved so much
that the producers invited her to return for a
second season. And she received another standing
ovation!
Now she stars in the stage adaptation
of Def Poetry in San Francisco. Writing became
an outlet to express Georgia’s deepest desires,
fears and concerns. As a child, she became aware
of the balance of power, the ignorance of people
and the love of God that heals all. ‘My
purpose is to inspire, uplift, and motivate my
people. My people are God’s people’
says the performance poet. Poetry may not be the
only platform she uses to inspire.
Georgia Me can also be seen
performing a tribute piece to the fallen, the
families and the heroes of 9/11 on NBC’s
Concert for America which airs September 11th.
