Frenchie Davis is a multi-talented
spoken word artist specializing in erotica. She
has produced, directed and hosted various poetic
events throughout the Detroit Metropolitan Area
including being the associate producer for HBO’s
Russell Simmons Presents Def poetry Jam Detroit
competitions in September of 2001.
With the “Sho you Right”
poetry series at Co-Co’s House of Comedy,
“Spoken Flavors,” Eargasms and her
last hosting preview at the “Premiere”
poetry series. She was the instrument to secure
features like National Poetry Slam Champions Reggie
Gibson and KAYO. She has performed on stage with
them as well as Detroit’s Aurora Harris,
Jessica Care Moore, Khary Kimani Turner, &
The Black Bottom Collective, Atlanta’s Dr.
Tiy-E Muhammad, author Michael Baisden, legendary
poet Sonia Sanchez, and The Last Poets. Frenchie
has opened for Def Jam recording artist Musiq
Soulchild and Relativity Records’ Common.
Frenchie has traveled across the US sharing her
unique take on Human Sexuality.
Her intimate hurricane has touched
down in Illinois, Maryland, Washington D.C., Nevada,
Canada, Massachusetts, Georgia, Oklahoma, and
the Big Apple. Her work has been written about
or appeared in The Native Detroiter Magazine,
The Michigan Chronicle, WJLB-FM 98, and Kiss-FM
of New York City.
Frenchie now resides in New York
where she continues to push her first self-published
work titled, “Not From Between My Thighs”.
This book will make you laugh at yourself and
your sexual antics, cry about you life and your
lovers, and make you wonder why you bother with
either.
Her immediate accomplishments
include featuring for Russell Simmons presents
HBO’s Def Poetry Jam’s third season.
She is the first sex columnist for The Monitor
newspaper at Marymount Manhattan College of New
York where she is pursuing her college Degree
to pursue her Ed.D of Education in Human Sexuality.
Poetry may not always be ‘in’ but
the education and entertainment she leaves behind
will. |
