
Mexico 2000 Ballet Folklorico
México 2000 Ballet Folklórico was founded in 1999 by Alex & Mary Palencia with the main objective to preserve and promote the Mexican traditional heritage. During the past 11 years M2K had presented more than 800 performances; obtained about 200 recognitions at state and international dance competitions/festivals, including repeated proclamations from the Cities of Dallas, Garland, Fort Worth, New York and the state of Texas. In 2008 M2K was designated a NEA American Masterpiece, recognized as one of 25 outstanding Texas artists from the TCA Artist Roster. México 2000 performs for an average audience of 58,000 people every year.
Programs and Repertoire for Tours
M2K offers dynamic concerts: “Fiestas de México”, “The Mayans” & “Christmas in México”. Audiences of all ages and backgrounds will be amazed and delighted by México 2000 performances.
“Fiestas de México” -school educational show-, students will learn about Mexican holidays while connecting to school curriculum (LA, SS, Visual Arts and Music). Teachers will receive study guide with Pre-Post activities to strengthen the educational performance’s purpose.
Bring the flair of Mexican culture to your event. Concerts are fast-paced and nonstop, featuring dances from different regions with their European, Afro-Caribbean, and South American influence, including pre-Columbian dances, highlighting the beauty and romance of traditional Mexico and illustrating México’s rich culture. During the school educational interactive show, audience members will learn about Mexican holidays and enjoy beautiful traditional dances, costumes, and music from Puebla, Veracruz & Jalisco, while connecting to the school curriculum in language arts, social studies, visual arts, and music. Audiences can learn the authentic dance "La Bamba" and enjoy an exciting and colorful Mexican fiesta! Dance presentations range from 20 minutes to 2 hours.
M2K’s programs will feature dances from Jalisco, Veracruz, Chiapas, Christmas Traditions & the Ancient Mayans among others, illustrating the beauty and romance of traditional and Pre-Colombian México. M2K dancers are artistic; the costumes are colorful; and the music is fantastic.
Other Services
Master classes will serve as an introduction to the Mexican traditional dance.
Residencies will give students a more extensive opportunity to learn about the art of the Ballet Folklórico and will include: at least 2-3 dances with their basic steps, combinations, choreography & regional monograph.

Learn about Cinco de Mayo Holiday and enjoy of acclaimed Mexico 2000 performers. Program: Dances from Puebla, Tamaulipas, Mexican Revolution, Veracruz & Fiesta en Jalisco! among others.
During our concert performances, audience will enjoy of beautiful Mexican traditional dances, costumes and music; the dancers are artistic, imaginative and thought provoking; the costumes are colorful, authentic and beautiful; and the music is fantastic.
During the school educational 45 minutes interactive show, students will learn important history facts about this holiday and enjoy of beautiful Mexican traditional dances, costumes and music while connecting to school curriculum in the Language Arts, Social Studies, Visual Arts and Music areas. Performance will include hand out programs and also teacher's study guide with pre-activities and post-activities to help to strength the educational purpose of the performance.
“THE MAYAS”
México 2000 presents Mayan culture through ancient ceremonial dance rituals with traditional pre-Columbian music. Program: Dance in Chichen Itza, Monarch Butterfly Dance, Kukulkan (Feathered Serpent God), Corn Princess, Eagles and Jaguars, Chac.
Live performances presented with handcrafted wardrobe and feathered head pieces, each one of them a uniquely work of art. According to historical traditions and ancient codices, each Maya costume exclusively utilizes natural materials, including natural color fabrics, shell, semi-precious stones, and exotic feathers.
